Democrat indicted for gun-running to terrorists…still gets 287,950 votes

Democratic California state Sen. Alex Padilla and Republican public policy honcho Pete Peterson are neck-and-neck in the crowded race for Secretary of State. Peterson narrowly leads in early returns, with 29.8 percent over Padilla, who is in second place with 28.8 percent.

Despite being the center of an alleged gun-running scandal unearthed by the feds, Democratic state Sen. Leland Yee is in third with 10.7 percent.

Who are these people? Did they read the news? Enough Californians to populate and in fact overfill the City of Irvine chose to vote for Leland Yee, who is facing big-time corruption charges. In fact, he came in third.

I’m sort of at a loss for words here…..

  1. Kid, this sort of thing happens on the Right all the time too. Only a moron wouldn't know that. The fact is that people just don't pay enough attention to what's going on around them, let alone what's in the news. They pull the lever for whoever happens to to have a certain party label or a certain sounding name. One GOP candidate recently changed his name to “Cesar Chavez” in the hopes it may get him elected.

But hey guys, look at it this way – the less informed the electorate, the more likely they are to be conservative, so you guys should be thrilled.

  2. History says that liberals either can't or don't read. That's just the way it is. Libs are more emotional than logical, and facts mean little to that electorate. It is horrifying to understand that at least 43% of our electorate is either too dumb to read, or too emotionally involved in some sort of new age crap that they cannot think. Climate change is an excellent example. In spite of the facts that show no link between greenhouse global warming and extreme weather, people believe that crap. They are incapable of reading the facts that even the United Nations publishes.

  3. I would quibble on two points……the left hardly has a lock on appeals to emotion. And I don't think that it's a matter of not reading [or being able to], I think that everything they ingest, comes through a filter that they're not even aware of.

  4. CI: Generally, the filter is of the type that the people can't be trusted, only the rulers can. This is why leftism/socialism/etc is so regressive and dangerous. It reverts hundreds of years of human progress.
